Dr. Krantz, a practicing cardiologist, believes the usual emphasis in his field has its priorities backwards: caring for those with advanced disease is important but mobilizing prevention in the community is essential. Dr. Krantz shows his commitment to quality of care and patient safety by serving on the American Heart Association’s Get With the Guideline’s national steering committee and the US FDA Cardiovascular and Renal Drugs Advisory Committee. Dr. Krantz has authored or co-authored over 100 scholarly publications pertaining to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Through his work he continues to learn innovative approaches that foster health improvement.
As the Principal Investigator of the Colorado Heart Healthy Solutions program, Dr. Krantz and his team have created a statewide cardiovascular risk reduction program in Colorado that focuses on underserved populations. He also serves as an adviser to CPC’s popular CHARLAR program, which serves older Latinos in Northwest Denver. Dr. Krantz looks for ways to break down silos in public health and to combine efforts and resources whenever possible. He helps the team develop strong partnerships that collectively improve health across Colorado. He strives to ensure our programs are based upon scientific principles and that they show measurable outcomes to change lives. “That differentiates us and makes CPC a special organization,” he says.
