I liked this program a lot… the most that I liked were the topics in which they talked about the cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure and the way it was explained to us was easy to understand for us. I know how I can eat healthier and I know the amount I should be eating. I learned how to understand the results of my diabetes that before I could not understand. I recommend this program to all of the members of the community.

I have changed my eating habits and the way I shop for food thanks to this program and now I speak to my children about what they should be doing. I was surprised that just eating well and just doing my 30 minutes a day [walking] I was able to lose 9 pounds in 12 weeks without even noticing it. Thanks to this program I discovered I had diabetes the same day as the screening. The other thing that motivated me to go to the classes was the promotoras. They explain things in our own language and at a very easy level of understanding. I am inviting all my acquaintances and friends to join so that they don’t lose the opportunity.

I liked participating in the CHARLAR program a lot. The program accomplished above and beyond any of my expectations. I am happy that I learned and I can teach my children and my grandchildren how to avoid diabetes so young. I feel very proud to be part of this action in the community. We are very fortunate the ones who got this opportunity. Now I take care of myself and I don’t drink Coca-Cola because it had a lot of sugar. I also learned how to cook properly and healthier. I like the idea of group support and how we do things and recipes that help us out a lot. I am grateful for the people who are doing these programs because they are doing it very well…
